ProPresenter has released some great new features in the past few months and we just wanted to remind everyone of them. So here is a little breakdown of their newest additions.
ProPresenter Cloud (Mac & Windows)
Now you can edit and share presentations and content from anywhere you have Internet access and ProPresenter running. This exciting new feature offers incredible convenience. If church staff want to work on services at home without the hassle of exporting and transferring their presentations, they can do so easily now using their own system.

With this annual subscription service, all machines on the same account will automatically stay in sync. What you create and upload at home or the office will automatically be downloaded to your presentation machines. This is also a great solution for deploying content and presentations to multiple locations and across platforms. You can easily set up presentations on one machine and it will automatically be deployed to all users signed up on that account.
ProPresenter MIDI Module [ Mac Only ]
The ProPresenter MIDI module for Mac allows you to control ProPresenter by a MIDI controller. While simple commands can be initiated from a MIDI keyboard, users can take advantage of the more advanced triggering methods obtained through sequencers (i.e. Ableton Live/Digital Performer) or lighting consoles. This tool is a great way to allow the band to run lryics from the stage or start video playback, as the Chris Tomlin band did on their recent tour.
ProPresenter Communications Module [ Mac Only ]
The communications module for ProPresenter gives you advanced capabilities to control ProPresenter running on your Mac from other production devices (and in some cases control other production devices) to simplify the workflow for your production crew. The module features a number of different protocols for communicating including:
Art-Net for Lighting Consoles (DMX over Ethernet)
Control ProPresenter Slides, Backgrounds, Audio, and Timelines from a lighting console to trigger videos simultaneously with lighting cues.
Video Switchers/Deck Controllers Controlling ProPresenter
There are a bevy of protocols for video switchers that ProPresenter can work with, among them are:
- VDCP and AMP (Serial or Ethernet)
- Sony BVW (Serial)
- RossTalk (Ethernet)
ProPresenter Controlling Video Switchers:
- Sony BVS (Serial)
- GVG 100 (Serial or Ethernet)
- RossTalk (Ethernet)
MIDI (through a MIDI interface or over a network

Control ProPresenter Slides, Backgrounds, Audio, and Timelines from any MIDI standard interface or software sequencer (i.e. Ableton Live, Digital Performer, etc.).

This Module has a lot of creative potential and it’s really up to the user as to how you apply it to your system. From the research I have done it seems like pretty much any midi controller will work with ProPressenter. This module can use midi controllers to operate tons of features within ProPresenter. This could come in handy with midi foot switches for when you are without a media worker or you just want to have specific queues set up that you might want your worship leader to trigger from the stage.
Here is a screenshot of the MiDi Module Control Panel in Propresenter 5.
As you can see there is a lot of features that are controllable via MiDi devices. These can be applied in several different ways depending on your situation.

ProPresenter 5 Tutorial Difficulty Level: Beginner
This Tutorial Explains the Following ProPresenter Features in This Order:
- DVD Interface Overview
- Setting In and Out Points
- DVD Limitations
- DVD Ripping
- HandBrake Overview
- Creating a Ripped DVD File
- Benefits of DVD Ripping
- Module Compatibility Overview
This tutorial show the various ways you can play DVDs in ProPresenter through the traditional and ripping method. The ripping feature is very useful because it opens up several possibilities for presentations. One of these options is being able to put multiple DVD clips from different DVDs in the same presentation without the need to mess with multiple discs at presentation time. Another way that this feature is useful is for users with multiple screens, DVDs cannot be displayed on more than one display but because this feature creates video files multiple screens aren’t a problem anymore. For users who desire more than one output display for video this feature is also especially useful when paired with the Multi-Screen module. This just adds to the already long list of great features found in ProPresenter. This also can add a whole new level of professionalism to your presentations in allowing multiple clips without any type of time gap between changing discs or dealing with disc spindown.
ProPresenter 5 Difficulty Level: Beginner
This Tutorial Explains the Following ProPresenter Features in This Order:
- Slide Labeling and Grouping
- Creating a New Arrangement
- Slide Re-Ordering
- Making Different Arrangements of the Same Song
- Adding Different Arrangements to the Same Playlist
The arrangements feature in ProPresenter allows you to create different versions of the same song for say a youth service or short/long version of a song. The feature comes in very handy because not every church uses the same arrangement and lyrics from the internet are not always in the order that you would want. This feature makes it extremely simple to re-order your songs and customize them the way your band plays them. This is one of my favorite features in ProPresenter just because of how useful it is.

You can also use preset tokens that can be used for whichever occasion you need them to apply to. There are lots of possibilities for the messages feature and how you could apply it to your service.
